Natsproektstroy Companies Complete Reconstruction of Berkakit Station — the Largest Railway Hub in the Far North
In Yakutia, Natsproektstroy has completed the reconstruction of Berkakit Station, the largest railway junction in the Far North.
To extend the embankment, the mechanization crews processed 20,000 cubic meters of soil and installed one culvert. The project also included the installation of 4.8 kilometers of new track, 24 point machines with pneumatic blowing systems, radio communication masts, heating stations, and the construction of fire reservoirs.
Train operations at the station have been transitioned to a digital control mode. A Computer-Based Interlocking (CBI) system, developed and manufactured by Natsproektstroy, has been implemented, allowing remote control of points and signals and significantly improving operational safety.
Berkakit is the largest station on the Far Eastern Railway in terms of coal loading volumes from the deposits of Southern Yakutia. The station’s modernization will make it possible to increase the handling capacity for the growing freight flow to and from the Railways of Yakutia and the Russian Railways network.
