The computer-based signaling and communication systems developed by 1520 Signal lay the basis for a digital transformation of the industry by making it possible to automate the train management process, increase the traffic capacity of open lines and stations with minimum investment, continuously control the state of the wayside equipment and significantly reduce the life cycle costs of signaling systems.

Our company provides customers with the whole range of services in the signaling and telecommunication field: from project feasibility study, design, engineering, training, commissioning and implementation works and service up to recycling of the obsolete equipment. Moreover, 1520 Signal provides turn-key solutions including service-support throughout the entire life cycle of our signaling and telecommunication systems.

The Main Stages of the Life Cycle Contract

01. Project Feasibility Study

Highly qualified specialists of our company provide feasibility study design for construction and reconstruction projects of transport infrastructure and facilities, which is the basis for a life cycle contract. Customers always receive an explicit and transparent business model for the construction and operation of their transport infrastructure.

02. Design

Design

An efficient technological process of the CBI system design has been developed by the company together with JSC RZD and its planning-surveying institutes, which in 2006 became a part of Roszheldorproject - an affiliated company of JSC RZD. Books of approved materials are widely used for the design of CBI systems. The specialists of the 1520 Signal engineering department actively participate in large-scale investment projects and programs that are flagship not only for our company but for the whole country:

  • Modernization of the railway infrastructure of the Baikal - Amur and Trans - Siberian railway lines with the development of carrying and traffic capacity (I and II stages);

  • Increase of traffic capacity of the Artyshta - Mezhdurechensk - Tayshet section;

  • Arrangements for an increase of carrying and traffic capacity of the infrastructure to increase transit container flow by 4 times, including Transsib in 7 days;

  • Electrification of the Rtishchevo - Kochetovka section (freight traffic specialization);

  • Electrification of Ozherelye - Uzlovaya - Yelets (passenger traffic specialization);

  • Construction of western bypass of Saratov junction of the Privolzhskaya Railway with reinforcement of the Lipovsky - Kurdyum railway section;

  • Development of the Moscow Transportation Hub (the MCC and MCD projects);

  • Development and reconstruction of the railway infrastructure on the approaches to the ports of the North - Western basin;

  • Reinforcement of the railway infrastructure on the Northern and Sverdlovsk railway for sending additional freight traffic within the framework of the Northern Latitudinal Railway construction project;

  • Construction of the Moscow - Kazan high-speed railway line.

03. Engineering (Adaptation)

Engineering (Adaptation)

Adaptation of the software and hardware in accordance with customers’ requirements and customization for particular facilities are carried out by highly qualified specialists of 1520 Signal, who have vast experience in the field of railway infrastructure.

The chief engineers of the project provide technical integrity of task implementation, compliance with the schedule of all engineering-technical phases of the project, and ensure that deadlines are met and the actual costs do not exceed the planned expenditures. Our engineers constantly improve their technical skills: participate in seminars held by key manufacturers of computer-based components for signaling systems, take qualification courses and actively implement the acquired skills in their professional practice. Thus they ensure the highest safety level of the transportation process.

04. Laboratory Tests

Carrying out laboratory tests of the software and hardware is one of the key stages prior to the commissioning of the equipment on site.  

1520 Signal has vast experience in the field of testing and implementation of the signaling and safety on-board systems. Innovative laboratory equipment and our highly skilled personnel make it possible to create the most advanced systems in the field of railway transport, including the systems with the concept of the radio-based movable block sections.

The full simulation of the real facility in a laboratory makes it possible to minimize tests on-site, which is a huge advantage when implementation takes place on an operating section or facility. 

Qualitative and comprehensive testing of the product, which is meant to provide safety and increase the capacity of the railways, improves the image of the company on the domestic and international market.

05. Commissioning Works and Implementation

Commissioning Works and Implementation

The use of software and typical industrial equipment which has been previously laboratory tested allows to minimize the costs and efforts for the commissioning works at the station. Highly qualified personnel of 1520 Signal use modern equipment and materials, do their work to the highest standard and always meet the deadline. The commissioning stage results in fully tested software and equipment that is ready for implementation at the facility.

06. Service and Maintenance

Service and Maintenance

Maintenance of computer-based interlocking systems is carried out during the whole operating lifespan. The service is available 7 days a week (24/7) and can be provided by the regional service centers in the Russian Federation located in Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Saratov, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Chita and Khabarovsk. Moreover, there are service centers in Baku (Azerbaijan), Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia). It allows providing technical support at all stations and sections equipped with our computer-based systems.

Together with our customers we maintain our products and provide the highest level of reliability and serviceability of our systems.  Depending on the requirements of our customer we will find the optimal package of services that may vary from remote technical support by phone up to the constant presence of our service engineer on the customer’s site.

07. Decommissioning and Recycling

Decommissioning and Recycling

Decommissioning of our equipment, as well as its purchase, is an important stage of the operational process of our enterprise. According to the life cycle contract, the company provides decommissioning of the supplied equipment at the end of its life cycle. At first, the equipment is taken apart because every component should be recycled in a different way. At the next stage, the parts are being sorted out (grouped). When all the parts of the equipment are grouped, the last stage of the decommissioning process begins. Metal components are sent to a scrap metal recycling center, other components are sent to special enterprises that recycle these types of materials.
