The 1520 Group of Companies is going to take part in the implementation of a large-scale project aimed at fully-fledged modernization of the Zemun technical-passenger railway station and train depot in Belgrade, the Republic of Serbia. The price of the contract is 1.5 million EUR.
Zemun, a technical and passenger station, is an integral part of the Belgrade railway junction. The construction of the Zemun station started in 1977 in the district of the same name located in New Belgrade. It was opened for the public in 1981, though, according to the project, it wasn’t fully completed. The major client of the new project is Srbija Voz, which is a state operator of railway passenger transport of Serbia. The general contractor of the modernization project of the Zemun technical and passenger station is a consortium represented by Energoproject Visokogradnja, one of the largest Serbian construction companies, and Colas Rail, a French railway company.
The project involves comprehensive reconstruction and modernization of the Zemun technical and passenger station that is equipped with 110 points. The project aims at creating additional facilities to provide smooth train operation and maintenance of new commuter electrical trains and conventional passenger locomotives, as well as the reduction of the empty rolling stock fleet on Х (the tenth) Trans-European transport corridor and in close vicinity to Belgrade.
The project involves construction and equipment of the functional division that is in charge of maintenance of the railway passenger fleet and clearing city areas engaged for these purposes. The framework of the project suggests construction of 14.000 m2 and a full reconstruction of 19.000 m2 of manufacturing facilities. It is worth noting that the project implementation will be carried out without closing the Zemun railway station and stopping traffic passing through it.
«The project plays a key role because we implement state-of-the-art technologies with a high percentage of Russian-made components and by doing so we ensure the export of Russian engineering. It is particularly important in connection with the strategy of the 1520 Group of Companies aimed the implementation of international projects» — Alexey Krapivin, the General Director of the 1520 Group of Companies, commented on the event.
Within the frame of this project 1520 Signal, a company which is a part of the 1520 Group of Companies, is going to supply and implement the EBI Lock 950 computer-based interlocking system and other required signaling systems together with their Serbian partner company — Institut Mihajlo Pupin (IMP). Technical solutions, including products that are designed and manufactured on the basis of the licensed production as part of international cooperation, will be exploited along with self-engineered products by the 1520 Group of Companies.
1520 Signal has a proven experience by delivering signaling projects to Serbia. The first project was implemented in 2016-2018 on the Resnik-Valjevo section by the order of RZD International as part of a series of international projects carried out with Russian investments.
«We are very pleased with the expansion of our cooperation with Serbian railways and further acknowledgment of our position as a reliable supplier of modern train traffic control systems that ensure an increase of traffic capacity and a high level of safety. We anticipate fruitful cooperation with our Serbian partner company — Institut Mihajlo Pupin (IMP) — that is aimed at facilitation of modernization of the Serbian railway infrastructure.» — Elena Mikheeva, the General Director of 1520 Signal Ltd., pointed out.
