We are happy to share our eco-news with you! The other day 1520 Signal brought 12 kilograms of the used batteries collected by our employees to the recycling point. Batteries are a hazardous waste because they are comprised of a “cocktail” of heavy metals. Once in landfill or nature, cases of batteries disintegrate and toxic substances poison water and soil, get into the food chain and in the end, can be found in a human body.
Recycling of a single AA battery can save tons of fresh water!
These initiatives are only a small part of what can be done by any company to protect the environment...
I. WE COLLECT AND BRING FOR RECYCLING:
— WASTE PAPER (approximately 1 ton annually).
— PLASTIC (regularly as the containers installed in our office get filled).
— PLASTIC LIDS (we recycle them separately under the ecological and charitable voluntary project «Dobrye Kryshechki»).
— USED BATTERIES.
II. WE CONSERVE ELECTRICITY:
— WE USE ENERGY-SAVING LIGHT BULBS.
— WE TURN OFF THE KEY LIGHTS AT THE END OF THE WORKING DAY AND KEEP ONLY THE EMERGENCY LIGHT ON.
III. WE DON’T WASTE PAPER:
— WE USE DUPLEX PRINTING WHEN POSSIBLE.
— WE USE WASTE PAPER FOR DRAFTS.
IV. WE KEEP THE AIR IN OUR OFFICE CLEAN AND FRESH BY PROVIDING GREEN SPACES.
WHY IT IS IMPORTANT:
All our initiatives are aimed at saving our planet — its forests, soil and fresh air — and at preserving non-renewable natural resources. Taking part in these activities we built a better future for ourselves and the generations to come. Ecological activities are all about human life and health.
