Start of the first docking station Boyuk-Kesik in Azerbaijan

On 19 of February 2021 took place commissioning of station Boyuk-Kesik of Azerbaijanian railroad. It is the first docking station for AC and DC electric traction on 1520 mm rail gauge, equipped with a microprocessor – based centralization system.

Similar commissioning has not happened beforehand.

Boyuk-Kesik station is a part of international transport corridor Baku — Tbilisi — Kars. At the same time Georgian railway operates on DC electric traction, and the Azerbaijanian railway, after a large-scale modernization, switched to AC.

Experts from «1520 Signal» equipped station Boyuk-Kesik with modern signaling and communication systems, including Computer-based Interlocking system EBILock 950. The main feature of this facility is the connection of two systems of electric traction: DC and AC with a frequency of 50 Hz and the ability to install train and shunting routes on the same arrows for mobile units operating on AC and DC systems.

CBI EBILock 950, switching of the overhead line to «constant», performs the control of the overhead switches or «alternating» current mode is implemented both in routing order and individually — by means of appropriate commands from the workstation of the station duty officer. Coding by ATP at Boyuk-Kesik station is carried out at a frequency of 25 Hz for train routes with AC electric traction and at a frequency of 50 Hz for routes on DC electric traction or autonomous traction.
Within the framework of the project, a unique experience has been obtained and modern technical solutions have been applied, which will make it possible to effectively equip docking stations, ensuring a high speed of the transportation process on sections of railways of any types of traction.

It is an important achievement for our company!

We thank the head of the project and the Azerbaijanian office Konstantin Podorozhnyak and the entire project team.
