New Digital Traffic Control Center Opens at Moscow-Passazhirskaya-Kazanskaya Station on MCD-3

A new digital traffic control center has opened at the Moscow-Passazhirskaya-Kazanskaya station on the third Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-3). NPS companies constructed an interlocking tower and equipped it with computer-based interlocking systems.

The three-story facility includes three workstations for LCSS operators and is equipped with essential life-support systems, including heating, ventilation, water supply, video surveillance, and fire suppression.

Train traffic on this MCD section will be managed by the CBI-EL, developed and manufactured by NPS companies. This system allows personnel to monitor all parameters, identify potential equipment failures before they occur, and set train routes.

From the new interlocking tower, staff will regulate the operation of 238 signals and 179 points. The station is now among the top three on the Moscow Central Diameters in terms of the number of digitally controlled points. To connect all equipment, 270 km of cable were laid—a distance equivalent to the span between Moscow and Yaroslavl.

To prevent unauthorized interference with the digital equipment, the system features built-in enhanced cyber security, which is vital for critical infrastructure like railways.

Digitalization enhances traffic safety and increases line carrying capacity.
