Digital Traffic Management and AI: Mikhail Fomin Speaks at PRO//Movement

At the conference and exhibition "PRO//Movement. Transport Control Systems," Mikhail Fomin, IT Director of the Natsproektstroy Group Signaling Division, delivered two presentations on the advancement of digital technologies and the application of artificial intelligence in rail transport.

Panel Session 3: "AI Flexes Its Muscles: Applying AI Technologies in Rail Transport"

Mikhail delivered a presentation titled "Application of AI Methods: From Technical Software Engineering to Traffic Management." His speech covered AI capabilities across various project stages—from the development and preparation of technical software to solving tasks directly related to train traffic management.

"The application of artificial intelligence is viewed not only as a means to boost automation in individual processes, but also as a key factor in developing and managing the entire rail network. Currently, neural network technologies solve practical tasks at the infrastructure level, including obstacle detection at Level Crossings, timetable construction, and real-time train traffic management. Furthermore, AI is utilized in engineering technical software, accelerating development and deployment while boosting overall quality," - noted Mikhail.

Panel Session 4: "Digital Movement: Enhancing Traffic Management Processes"

Mikhail presented "Platform 2.0: Functional Evolution and New Solutions," focusing on the development of platform-based architecture, expanded functional features, and new tools designed to optimize train traffic management.

"A platform-based approach allows us to assemble diverse systems modularly: leveraging existing components, creating new algorithms, and building new field devices. This provides flexibility in development and allows us to adapt solutions to specific tasks much faster," - Mikhail emphasized.

The presentations contributed to ongoing industry discussions on state-of-the-art digital solutions and future prospects for AI application in rail transport management.
