RZD and Natsproektstroy Finalize Contracts for All Seven Stages of Russia’s First High-Speed Railway

Russian Railways and NPS Group have finalized the contract framework for all seven construction stages of the nation’s first High-Speed Railway (HSR) connecting Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

JSC Dorogi i Mosty (Roads and Bridges), a subsidiary of NPS, is serving as the project contractor.

The project involves the construction of a 623-km concession section stretching from Kryukovo in the Moscow region to Obukhovo in Saint Petersburg. Planned earthworks will exceed 100 million cubic meters, and over one million piles will be driven to reinforce the track bed and minimize deformation. The line will feature 239 bridges and overpasses with a total length of approximately 180 km.

To ensure reliability and safety at train speeds of up to 400 km/h, NPS developed a suite of innovative technologies. The cornerstone of these solutions is an import-independent ballastless track design, engineered specifically for the 1520 mm gauge and the Russian climate.

Throughout the construction process, NPS is implementing digital management and control tools. This ensures project transparency and efficiency, allowing for the centralized management of processes, materials, and labor resources, as well as real-time progress monitoring.
