Head of NPS Group Aleksey Krapivin Discusses Construction of Russia's First High-Speed Railway at International Forum

Aleksey Krapivin, CEO of NPS Group, shared updates on the construction of Russia’s first high-speed railway (HSR) linking Moscow and Saint Petersburg during the International Transport and Logistics Forum.

The holding is developing unique technological solutions for the project while rapidly increasing its workforce and equipment fleet.

"For the Russian HSR network, we have created a unique suite of technologies—ranging from a ballastless track design that has no global analogs and was developed specifically for our domestic gauge and harsh climate, to digital signaling systems. All these solutions possess significant export potential and can be adapted for HSR projects across the entire 1520 mm gauge region," said Aleksey Krapivin.

Krapivin noted that the holding is actively scaling up its construction resources. Mobilized capacity has doubled in the last three months alone, and NPS expects to reach peak construction pace by the summer of 2026.

Simultaneously, the holding is establishing an infrastructure cluster to supply the project with necessary components and materials. Across the regions along the HSR route, 10 specialized sites will produce unique 700-ton beams for bridges and overpasses, supported by 14 plants manufacturing reinforced concrete piles.

In the Novgorod and Tver regions, construction is underway for two robotic plants dedicated to producing ballastless rail slabs. A pilot batch of these slabs is scheduled for production this summer.
