Radio Block Center

Radio block center plays a key role in the radio-based train control system (RBTC) by controlling the current traffic situation and giving line clearance permissions depending on the location and speed of the train ahead, as well as other parameters.

The radio block center is intended for the collection, storage, logical processing of information from interfaces with controlled objects and on the basis of information received from the onboard safety systems (OB systems) about the location of trains, their integrity,  transmission of information about the distance to the point of the targeted braking to the OB systems, permissible speed, including temporary and permanent speed restrictions according to the condition of the track and man-made facilities, and other information necessary for provision of safe train traffic. The radio block center, in addition, supports the exchange of information with the related train control systems.

Advantages

  • Control of the registered trains database.
  • Calculation and transmission of train motion parameters in accordance with interlocking and train location data.
  • Transmission of emergency braking signals to the onboard safety system.
  • Control of the database of temporary speed restrictions introduced by the operator.
  • Storage of temporary speed restrictions data.
  • Transfer of temporary speed restrictions to trains and their recall  in accordance with information from the database.
  • Providing the operator with information about the location, condition and parameters of the trains with locomotives equipped with the OB systems.
  • Providing the operator with information about the system activation and the temporary speed restrictions data after a system reboot.
  • Transmission of messages to the operator on special occasions.
  • Execution of control commands, such as setting and canceling of temporary speed restrictions, as well as self-determination of the train location in the radio block area;
  • Transmission of text messages data to drivers.
  • Storage of all the received and sent messages from the interlocking system,  a station operator and trains.
  • Self-diagnostic check.
  • Automatic switching to the module switched on in hot standby in case of the failure of the main one.
  • Support of the EuroRadio protocol for communication with trains equipped with the OB systems.
