Digital Track Circuit Monitoring Module with Automatic Signal Level
The company 1520 Signal has developed automated line block signaling system (ALB) and semi-automated line block signaling system (Semi-ALB) simultaneously with the first implementation of the CBI system in Russia and since then has been successfully applying those systems in many projects at the 1520 area.
ALB and Semi-ALB systems have been created on the basis of the field-proven components of the CBI system – a central processing unit, an object controller system and a local control and supervisory system (LCSS). They comply with both Russian and European safety requirements (SIL4 level of safety integrity is provided) and have an increased operational capability due to the hot standby mode of components and channels of data transmission. In both systems protection of the object controller system against peak overvoltage and secure electric power supply, including uninterruptable power supply is provided.
AUTOMATED LINE BLOCK SYSTEM
Computer-based automated line block signaling with voice-frequency track circuits (ALB) on the basis of components of the CBI system is designed for sections, where traffic control is implemented through fixed and digital block sections (inter alia without intermediate signals on open lines and on the basis of short track circuits).
ALB system is manufactured in different performance modes:
Three-aspect or four-aspect signaling;
Implementation with intermediate signals on the boarders of block sections, as well as without them (Automatic Locomotive Signaling system (ATP));
Continuous automatic locomotive signaling control via relay interface or via digital interface for digital track circuits;
Integration into the CBI system or operation as a separate traffic control system in combination with interlocking of different types;
Installation of equipment on posts as well as in transportable modules.
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF AUTOMATED LINE BLOCK SYSTEM
Logical check of a train passing the track circuits of an open line.
Coding of track circuits of an open line, including ATP mode with fixed and digital block sections.
Change of traffic direction on open lines.
Interoperability with open line foul-to-gauge detector systems, bridge signaling systems, etc.
Interface with level crossing signaling system, track maintenance staff notification system, hardware package, etc.
SEMI-AUTOMATED LINE BLOCK SYSTEM
The computer-based semi-automated line block signaling system (Semi-ALB) on the basis of the CBI system is designed for low-density lines and allows increasing their traffic capacity due to the equipment installed on the open line of an automated block post.
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF SEMI-AUTOMATED LINE BLOCK SYSTEM
Monitoring of the open line status.
Receiving permission for train dispatch.
Blocking the open line.
Unblocking the open line.
Giving permission for train dispatch.
Canceling permission for train dispatch.
Safe dispatch of service trains.
